I am a self taught designer with a minimalist soul. I design modern geometric fabric and wallpaper with abstract nature inspired shapes and a calm Scandinavian feel. StoffART patterns bring together organic forms, retro-inspired details, and muted earthy colors combined with soft pastels. How I got into surface pattern design
For 10 years, I ran a small fabric shop as a one-woman business and became fascinated by the seamless repeats in fabric designs. I taught myself screen printing and made a small collection of fat quarters for my customers, who loved my minimal, calm style. After closing the shop for personal reasons, I wanted to share my designs with more people, so I researched surface pattern design and took several courses. Now I create patterns for people around the world.
How I create my designs
I usually start by hand-drawing my ideas in Procreate, then bring them into Adobe Illustrator to vectorize the artwork and build seamless repeats. I take extra care with color harmony and how patterns work together. I aim to create at least three coordinating designs as a collection, so quilters can mix prints across a project and home decorators can bring a considered, connected look to their spaces. What inspires me
Inspiration often finds me in everyday moments: a flower growing beside the path to the bus, a color combination on a poster, or a small detail on a building seen through the window. I also love browsing home magazines filled with Scandinavian interiors and walking through clothing boutiques. Nature, architecture, interiors, and unexpected combinations of color and shape all find their way into my modern geometric and abstract botanical patterns.
